Hands-on Experience

The Certified Lean Practitioner program provides a complete package of education, application, and coaching for those seeking to learn and gain hands-on experience with the most powerful tools used for lean transformations.

One of the major objectives of the program is for participants to work on a lean project that will find and reduce time wasted in their jobs. The goal is to address that common trap where people are too busy to work on career development and continuous improvement.

Stephen Covey told us the parable of a stranded motorist who had been too busy driving to stop and buy gas. For those in a similar situation, this program is designed for you.

Available in 3 options:

  • 100% online for 7 weeks with once a week student team meetings and once a week check-in with instructor and coach
  • Blended with online and 4 hours of in-person instruction once a week for 7 weeks using the flipped classroom approach
  • Customized programs for organizations with 8 to 12 candidates – your chance to run multiple projects and see incredible results

What’s Involved

  • The program runs for 7 weeks – you will have assignments that need to be completed each week
  • Leverage a package of online tools that include articles, videos, podcasts, templates, discussion forums, and quizzes
  • Work with a team of students to practice using the tools and gain a deeper understanding of the concepts taught in class
  • Work on a lean project to improve your job, create quantifiable improvements, and begin seeing immediate results
  • Receive coaching from an instructor at every step along the journey
  • Take a certification exam and have the opportunity to earn personal recognition as a Certified Lean Practitioner
  • Join the local lean community and begin taking a leadership role

This program is similar to courses taught at many universities. Your time investment will need to be about 8 hours per week on the educational materials and an additional 2 to 6 hours a week on your project. Your instructor will help scope your project to meet your available time.
