Glacial Drumlin

By Mike Loughrin, CEO for Transformance Advisors

Rails to Trails

Running between Milwaukee and Madison, the Glacial Drumlin trail stretches for 52 miles through farmlands and glacial topography.

The trail travels through 10 small towns from Waukesha to Cottage Grove. It is on an abandoned rail corridor of the old Chicago and North Western Railway (C&NW).

There are 16 wooden bridges situated along the trail. Of these, 2 are more than 300 feet long and the Big Muck Farm Bridge, is more than 880 feet long.

Dousman

Scott Russell, our finanical advisor, met me at the Bicycle Doctor, on Main Street, in Dousman for the start of our journey.

It’s a hot day and we need to bring lots of water. Fortunately, the trail is shaded with trees on both sides.

Time to head down the trail with a goal of 20 miles out and 20 miles back. We plan to stop for lunch in Jefferson.

Refreshment Time

We arrived back in Dousman. Our water bottles are empty.

A great ride is always worthy of kicking back with a cool drink or ice cream.

Not seeing an ice cream shop, Scott and I choose Barley’s Saloon. They had plenty of options for 2 thirsty bicycle riders.
